First Time Home Buyer
Buying a home doesn’t have to be scary, but if you have not been through the process before, it could be intimidating. Unless you know someone who has been through the process and shared every detail with you, the unknown could deter you from even starting. This is why it is always wonderful to have a real estate agent that can help walk through where to begin and what following steps will occur next.
The first step is to determine what your monthly budget would allow for a mortgage. The next step would be to contact a local lender to obtain a pre-approval. This pre-approval will be based on many factors, not just your income. Your pre-approval could be over or under your ideal budget. In Oklahoma we have several amazing mortgage lenders! Many will walk you through each step and go over everything with you so that you will have a better understanding of how a mortgage loan works and all of the steps needed to complete the purchase. Next is the fun part! We will have an opportunity to review your price point and all of your “needs” and “wants”! Home buying needs may include location, (Ex. Mustang, Oklahoma City, Moore, Tuttle, El Reno, Piedmont, ect..), as well as how many bedrooms, bathrooms. Wants may include a pool and tile floors. Once we have our lists this will help me to narrow down the right home for you and your family. It is so important to keep an open mind when viewing homes that are not custom built for your family. Some things are easy to change. Example, the pool could be added later and tile floors could be installed after closing.
The home buying process is never out of reach. It might be delayed by a few months if there are things you need to work on with the mortgage lender, or maybe you need to save a little more money for closing.
